Refund Policy

At Carlos Bobonis Design Studio, our work is custom, collaborative, and built to last. Because every design is tailored to each client—from furniture pieces to spatial installations and product development—our refund policy reflects the unique nature of what we create. This document also outlines key policies related to changes and post-delivery responsibilities to ensure a smooth and fair working relationship.

 

 

1. General Policy

 

All sales are final once a project is underway. Our services involve custom design, sourcing, fabrication, and client-specific work that cannot be resold or repurposed. Refunds are only considered in limited cases, outlined below.

 

 

2. Deposits and Payments

 

  • A non-refundable deposit (usually 30–50%) is required to begin any project. This covers project research, design development, scheduling, and administrative planning.

  • Full payment is typically due before final delivery, installation, or transfer of design files unless otherwise agreed in writing.

 

 

3. Cancellations

 

  • Before design work begins: You may cancel in writing. Any refundable amount will exclude the deposit and any design or sourcing work already performed.

  • After design begins or production is initiated: Partial refunds may be considered based on the amount of completed work and non-recoverable costs.

  • After fabrication or installation has started: No refunds will be issued.

 

 

4. Custom Furniture & Fabrication

 

  • All custom pieces are non-refundable and non-returnable once production begins.

  • Minor differences in materials (e.g., wood grain, natural imperfections) are not considered defects.

  • If damage occurs during delivery or installation, we will repair or replace it at no charge if reported within 5 business days.

 

 

5. Spatial Installations

 

  • Installations are custom and may involve on-site construction or integration. Once installed and accepted by the client, the project is considered final.

  • Adjustments after installation are considered change orders and may incur additional fees.

  • We are not responsible for damage, misuse, or alterations made by third parties after our work is completed and approved on-site.

 

 

6. Industrial Design & Product Development

 

  • Strategy work, technical drawings, renderings, and development files are non-refundable once delivered.

  • If a multi-phase project is terminated early, you will only be billed for the completed phases, but no refunds will be issued for delivered intellectual property.

 

 

7. Digital Deliverables

 

Payments for consultations, creative direction, research, or CAD/technical drawings are non-refundable after delivery.

 

 

8. Change Order Policy

 

Design is an evolving process, and we welcome client collaboration. However, requests that go beyond the approved scope—including changes in materials, dimensions, finishes, or layout—must be documented and billed as Change Orders.

 

  • All change orders must be submitted in writing and approved before work resumes.

  • Change orders may impact pricing and timelines.

  • Verbal requests or informal approvals will not be considered valid.

 

 

9. Post-Installation Disclaimer

 

Once a project has been delivered and/or installed—and the client has approved the work through verbal or written confirmation, or by taking possession—the project is deemed complete and accepted.

 

  • Carlos Bobonis Design Studio is not responsible for any damage, modification, or deterioration of the work due to external contractors, environmental conditions, improper handling, or use beyond intended design.

  • Claims made after client acceptance will only be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to inspection and a repair fee.

 

We recommend taking photos upon installation if third parties will be accessing the site afterward.

 

 

10. Client Responsibilities

 

  • Clients are responsible for providing timely feedback, accurate site measurements, and clear access to the delivery or installation location.

  • Delays or costs incurred due to inaccurate information or site inaccessibility are not grounds for refund.

 

 

11. Legal Compliance

 

This policy complies with consumer protection regulations under Puerto Rico law, including DACO’s guidelines under Ley Núm. 5 de 1973. We aim to resolve any disputes professionally and transparently.
